Scholarly life in the monastery in the 19th century

Unter den vielen Namen, die genannt werden konnten, Under Abbot Isidor Teutschmann and in the 19th century in general, the monastery experienced an era of scholarly activity. JahrhundertTwo names must be mentioned in lieu of many: Firstly Father Maximilian Millauer, author of a number of theological and historical works, a professor and Rector magnificus (1834) at the University in Prague, and secondly, Father Siegfried Kühweg , whose manuscript “Codex diplomaticus monasterii Altovadensis 1259 – 1844” is especially worth mentioning. It is essentially the “Urkundenbuch des Zisterzienserstiftes B. Mariae Virginis zu Hohenfurth in Böhmen” (Book of Deeds of the Cistercian Monastery of the B. Virgin Mary in Vyšší Brod in Bohemia) published by Mathias Pangerl (Volume XXIII of the Fontes rerum austriacarum”, Vienna 1865).
