Monastic vows of virtuous living (lat. Conversatio morum)

Calm in the monastery during the long wintertimeter im WinterIn the vows of virtuous lifestyle (lat. conversatio morum), monk takes on the obligation to be transforming his own life according to the monasticism, which includes to refrain marriage and to live personally without possessing anything. Monk vows to work constantly on his conversion and transformation in Christ according to the Rule of St. Benedict and according to his monastery‘s life standards. According to the evangelic counsel to give up the marriage for the sake of the heavenly kingdom, monk vows chastity. In this manner monk commits himself with undivided devotion to Christ. According to the evagelic counsel of poverty, monk strives to lay all his trust and hope in God, because his treasure is in Christ.
